Zhongtian Han is a historian of modern China, focusing on the history of communications and intelligence in warfare in Republican China (1912–1949). His first book project examines how the Chinese Communist Party created intelligence advantages in military struggles by institutionalizing its wireless telegraphy and cryptography operations, 1927–1953. Articles based on the project were published in Modern China, War in History, and American Journal of Chinese Studies. His teaching interests are wide-ranging, but in all his teaching he emphasizes using digital history methods to develop the students’ attitude of applying new tools to respond to changing scenarios. He is currently a Visiting Lecturer at the Department of History at Southern Methodist University. Before joining SMU, he completed his Ph.D. in History at the George Washington University in 2023, was a Visiting Assistant Professor at the Department of History at University at Buffalo and the Department of History at Trinity University, and a Hans J. Morgenthau Fellow at University of Notre Dame. |
